On August 20, digital healthcare startup UMED and IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) technology company People&Technology signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate in the field of urologic IoMT.
The key aspect of this agreement is to integrate UMED’s smart urologic devices with hospital information systems, with the joint goal of realizing IoMT services that connect in-hospital and out-of-hospital care by 2027.
Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to enhance both patient convenience and medical staff efficiency by integrating smart medical devices with hospital ICT infrastructure. Their first goal is to establish a smart clinical environment where urology patients can easily use UMED devices in hospitals and where physicians can monitor procedure data collected by these devices in real time.
UMED is a digital healthcare startup specializing in comprehensive management of urologic diseases through innovative technologies. Founded by medical professionals, the company has been leading the paradigm shift in urologic care from treatment-centered to prevention-centered by developing smart medical devices.
UMED has already commercialized a drug-induced urethral catheter and is on the verge of obtaining medical device approval for its automatic bladder irrigation system, “UroRinseTM Light,” designed for patients with voiding dysfunction. By transforming urologic care, which has often been overlooked, into healthcare accessible to all, UMED is evolving into a specialized platform capable of managing a wide range of urologic health conditions such as urinary tract infections (UTI) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), comparable to chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes.
People&Technology is a healthcare technology company driving digital transformation (DX) in hospitals through its IoMT platform. Its proprietary IndoorPlus+ SmartCare system uses BLE-based sensors to collect and manage real-time data on the location and vital signs of patients, medical staff, and medical equipment. It integrates with hospital EMR/HIS and monitoring systems to provide dashboards, alerts, and operational insights.
The company’s platform is currently deployed in more than 35 medium and large hospitals across Korea and over 100 medical institutions worldwide, supporting real-time patient monitoring and smart hospital solutions.
With this MOU, the two companies plan to combine their strengths to jointly develop and expand a service platform specialized in urologic care that connects both in-hospital and out-of-hospital environments.
