A performance-sharing event for participating companies in the “2024 Startup Leap Package,” hosted and supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups,
the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED), and Gyeongsangnam-do Province, and organized by the Gyeongnam Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, was held over two days from the 18th to the 19th at the Grand Josun Busan Hotel.
The Startup Leap Package is a program that supports scale-up and business stabilization for startups in their growth stage—those between 3 and 7 years since founding—through commercialization funds and various growth initiatives.
For the 2024 program, the Gyeongnam Center selected 25 startups through two tracks: the financial support track and the large enterprise collaboration track with Samsung Heavy Industries. Startups in the financial support track received eight months of support, while those in the Samsung collaboration track received support for ten months.
The event was attended by representatives of the participating companies, officials from Samsung Heavy Industries, affiliated institutions, and startup support personnel from Gyeongnam Province. The agenda included: Achievement presentations and awards for participating companies, Keynote lectures and a talk concert, Networking between startups and large enterprises. During the event, companies presented achievements from the support period, and were evaluated by experts based on project outcomes, growth strategies, and investment potential.
In the “Outstanding Project Execution” category, SLM Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Young-jun) received the Grand Prize, Infosys Co., Ltd. (CEO Tak Jung-soo) and UMED Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Kang-woo) were awarded Excellence Prizes.
As “Outstanding Program Participants,” Nebsys Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Sung-jin) and ElecField Future Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Han-sung) were also recognized.
Park Young-jun of SLM, the Grand Prize winner, remarked, “Through this program, we received not only commercialization funding but also valuable support in IP, certification, and global market access, which helped significantly upgrade our technology and expand our business. We hope to see more follow-up support programs such as networking among alumni companies.”
Among them, iPop (on-site safety drone system) and TOZ (remote real-time ship maintenance support service) received certificates of appreciation for their outstanding collaboration with Samsung and discussed future cooperation.
Other participating startups, such as 3DMuse (AI-based multilingual safety education content generator), SLM (hull surface inspection robot & management platform), and Smart Ship Engineering (portable wireless marking system), are in ongoing discussions with an eye toward achieving measurable results by 2026.
Samsung Master Choi Doo-jin stated, “We are very pleased to have identified practical and meaningful collaboration projects between startups and large enterprises. We will continue post-program support and expand our investments to create more win-win opportunities in the future.”
A representative from the Gyeongnam Center added, “The Startup Leap Package goes beyond just funding—it provides diverse forms of support to help startups truly grow in the market. We will continue our efforts to strengthen multi-dimensional support going forward.”
